Web Site evalutain.

I think that it is important that you make sure that any websites you are using especially to teach with are of a certain quality. I think that by using an evaluation on the website you can make sure you are only using good quality web pages to teach in you classroom. You can also use them to ensure that if you are creating a web site that it is a good quality website.

Google docs.

I have never even heard about a Google doc before I heard about it in this class. I think that it is a great tool. I would use this to teach some editing skills in my classroom. I think that I wold sent an article or two that needed to be edited and have the students go in and edit them.

Web Quest

I have never heard of a web quest until we talked about them in class. I can see how a web quest could be a fun way for students to learn. I think that for a web quest to be useful it has to be well though out and well put together. I think that it needs to be fun as well as educational. I had a hard time critiquing the web quest thinking in a way I usually do not. I find that it is hard to look at something in a way that you usually wouldn't.

Photo Editing.

I loved learning about photo editing with picasa. I love to take pictures of my daughter. As most people who know her know she does not stand still for very long, making it hard to get good shots. I feel like with this software will help me make better pictures. I think that it would be fun to use this in the class to make an all about me collage. Kids could take pictures or even bring some from home and I could scan them and we could make a collage.

I enjoyed learning how to make a story book using power points. I think that this would be so fun fro students. and it is something that would keep them really interested. I think that you could make the story books and have the students present them to their parents. When you use technology in your class room it keeps students engaged, like in the video we wached. If the student are interested and invested in what they are doing, you are less likely to have problems with behavior, and not doing the work.

I thought that it was interesting to learn about the way we can implement technology in our class. I was thinking about how so many teachers utilize you tube in their class rooms. When I was observing in a kindergarten class right after Barak Obama won the presidency, the kids thought he was Martin Luther King. The Teacher decided to pull some videos about the two off you tube to help the kids understand the difference. I Really enjoyed listening to everyone lesson plan, it gave me some great ideas for future use.

For my lesson plan I chose to do a science lesson and how the moon and earth move in relation to each other, and the phases of the moon. The lesson is for a 3rd grade class. I took my lesson from 2 different lesson plans A moon with a view and as the world turns.

Topic 2

Uen Web site. I think that this website is such an amazing resource for teachers. Their are so many things that you can do. There is a ton of lesson plans you can probably find a lesson plan to fit any of your needs.It also has things like videos and games you could use in your classroom. I do think that you need to really take the time to explore this web site so that you know that you are utilizing every thing that it has to offer.

Topic 1

Today's Student.
The video we watched in class really shocked me. I feel like America is falling farther and farther behind other countries as far as education goes, even though we are trying harder and harder to get ahead. Unfortunately I think we are stuck in the ways we choose to do things, because we are afraid that if we try something new it will not work. Teachers feel that if we find a way to let the students use technology in the class they will just play around, and not learn anything. I came across an article on the net the other day talking about how laptops in the classroom are just another distraction. I feel that if we set the rules, enforce them, and tech the students how to use the technology correctly, then students can benefit from the technology, and it will not be a distraction.
